What is QLT GEN?
The LGBTQIAA+ Generational Quilt Project is an innovative public art installation that merges traditional craftsmanship with modern data visualization techniques. This project aims to create a visual representation of attitudes and perspectives within the LGBTQIAA+ community across different generations, offering insights into how various age groups view the present world and their expectations for the future.
The installation consists of five quilts, each representing a specific generation: Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, and Generation Z. The fifth quilt serves as a culmination, combining elements from all four generational quilts to create a comprehensive overview of the entire community’s perspective.
At the heart of this project is a three-question survey administered exclusively to individuals who self-identify as part of the LGBTQIAA+ community. The survey asks participants to provide their age and feelings about the current state of the world and their outlook on the future, on a scale of 1 to 7. These responses form the basis for the quilt designs.
Thank you to Everyone that has made this project a reality
